It’s August 18, 1981, the last day of summer camp. The counselors still have a lot of tasks to take care of before the camp’s highlight takes place that evening—the talent show. But most of them have other things on their minds: romantic relationships and, in most cases, sex. Add to that a dangerous rescue at the waterfall, love triangles, outcasts, drug use, cool kids, talking canned vegetables, and a deadly piece of NASA Skylab debris...
Absolutely grotesque, idiotic, childish, surreal, and absurd—yet made with a sincere love of detail. Wet Hot American Summer is a film so senseless, so aimless, and so damn crazy that it can’t be compared to anything else. And so it seems more than fitting that, almost exactly 25 years after the film’s release, we’re kicking off our winter program with this summer movie.
